You Only Live Once

 

    It was the late afternoon when, Alita watch from the back of the room while her father, the general, gave a brief plan of the Jet Force's battle against Arctica's Army two days from now. He stood up there with calm, confident look in his face, and he was the one who was going to battle Arctica herself! While everyone (Jet Force Gold and Gemini) paid close attention to him, Juno wasn't. He was sitting at nearby table drinking coffee. He was too worried about Alita; he kept looking at her sad face. She understood that, she didn't even argue back like she usually would. Something was bothering her, Juno can feel it, but what was it? He wanted to know so he could help....

She looked at down at the floor, she felt really sad, Juno, Vela, Lupus, and her dad, Trunks were going to fight her family's (and the whole universe's) enemy. She wanted to come so badly, but her ass-of-a-father wouldn't let her. She felt herself want to weep, but not here, she's a Saiya-jin warrior, and crying meant you were weak, she wish she had never knew that, she hated being weak. She quietly snuck out of the room and into the hallway. She walked quickly to the woman's washroom where she was alone, and broke down.

She felt her chest heave violently as she wept, oh Kami; she wanted to go with Juno to protect him, like he has done for her since she met him. Kuso, what was she saying, even if she tried, Alita was far weaker compared to her dad, and he had to fight Arctica. She wasn't even a Super Saiya-jin, she was close however, but not close enough to fight Arctica's henchmen by herself. 'Damn, I'm probably the weakest Saiya-jin known to man, she thought to herself.'

Besides going with her close friends, she wanted Juno to.....not only love her, but, make love to her, but she didn't want to make him do so if he didn't want to, they've never even talked about it. But, if he ever got killed, she'd never forgive herself for listening to her father then her heart, well, she just hopes he doesn't. 

"Alita?" She looked up, it was Vela, "What's wrong?" she asked with concern. She helped Alita up, since her tail was cut off, her balance wasn't as good as it used to be.

"Um.....uh....Nothing, nothing is wrong...." Alita stammer quietly, she wiped her tears away.

Vela gave Alita a very deep sigh, "You know, if what your 'Nothing's wrong' excuse doesn't work on Juno, it won't work on me, and plus, you've lived with us for almost two months, and I learn more about people I know, very fast." She crossed her arms and leaned against the wall, "So fess' up now!"

"I...." Alita told Vela about her problem, she felt a bit embarrassed but Vela said to relax, she said that 'Girls have to stick together,'

    Alita and Vela walked out of washroom, Alita felt more comfortable after she talked to Vela, she told Alita that  Juno and Lupus were waiting patiently for them outside the base. On the way back to their apartment, he sat beside her in the car, looking at her worried face, What's wrong with her? How come she is almost miserable since she found out about who her father was? Something is wrong...but what?  

When they got home,  it was already dark and Juno changed as soon as they got back, "Hey Juno, Lupus and I are going to go out with a few friends of mine, you wanna come?" Vela asked, as she walked out of her room after changing to her civilian clothes, 

"No thanks, I'm too tired....I need to save up all the energy for the training session tomorrow, I suggest you get home at least before midnight...so...." he looked at his watch, "You have around three hours,"

"Whatever you say....." She shrugged, "Boss..." She looked at Alita, "Hey Alita, you wanna come?"

"No, I was just about to get changed, besides, I don't feel like going out tonight..." she replied sadly, and with that she just walked into her room.

Vela shrugged her shoulders and was about to leave with Lupus until.. "Hey guys...do you know what's wrong with Alita?"

"Beats me," replied Lupus, "I don't really spend much time talking to her these past months, I know very little of her....sorry."

"Nee-chan?" Juno asked, "Do you know?"

"Uh...um.." she sighed, she looked down at Lupus, "I need to talk to Juno alone. I hope you don't mind."

"Oh don't mind me ... I'll just wait in the car...." and he walked out

"Thanks old friend..." she replied, chuckling.

"Watch who you're calling old..." he cried back, he was cut of when the door closed.

"Well?" Juno looked at his twin with a lot of concern in his eyes.

"Well...." She sighed and took a seat, "Alita is miserable because of the war that takes place in two days,"

"But I thought.."

"I know... she's sad not only because she isn't coming with us, it's also because she loves you so much that... well...she wants to protect you and...." Vela paused, 'Kami...what am I getting myself into....I want to tell Juno, but what will Alita's reaction be?'

"And what? Vela tell me, I want to know what is making her so sad!" Juno sat down on the couch, "Vela....I want to know...."

"She....wants.....to...." Vela sighed, biting her lips, and also trying to find the right words to say.

"Well?!?!?!?!"

"She wants to 'do it' you but.... but...."

"Demo?"

"She says that it's your choice, she's ready, however, she doesn't want to force you to do something you don't want to do...she is unsure about the whole thing herself...." Vela rubbed her eyes worryingly, "But now that we have two days before probably the most dangerous war we've been to.......she's scared that you might.....pass on before you chance to do it....and won't be able to...you know....ever...." Juno just sat there....shocked by what his twin just told him... "She loves you Juno....with all her heart and she wants you to be safe long enough to share the greatest love in her life.." She picked up her purse and opened the door, "See ya later..."

    Alita felt really refreshed as she got out of the shower and into her room, wearing nothing but a pink, silk robe wrapped tightly around her body. She looked at the time, it was quarter to ten so she put on her slippers and walked out of her room toward the kitchen for a drink. When she was about to get out into the living room until she tripped over her sword that was left beside the couch. "Eeek!" she fell on her stomach. "Ow..."

"Alita!" Juno got up from the couch and went to help her up, "Are you okay?" he asked, getting her to stand.

"I'm fine, " she spoke softly, her face down.

"You got to learn how to control your balance." he advised, their faces met, close. Alita blushed, and even more when she realized that he was holding her body close to his by her arms. 

They suddenly broke apart, Juno blushed even more. Alita looked down and noticed her robe somehow opened when she fell, she quickly wrapped it tighter, giggling nervously, and now her face was redder then before. "...um....excuse me....." she walked past him and into the kitchen. His gaze only followed her and he didn't do anything else.

Alita sighed and walked out of the kitchen with a glass of water and she found Juno was sitting on the couch, watching TV. However, he wasn't paying attention at all to what was on ....tonight was the only chance he got to make up his decision, because tomorrow night....he is going to have to stay over night at the base if they had to leave early. He was so deep in thought that he didn't even notice Alita slowing down for a second and said, "...good night."

Alita got into her room and left the glass of water on her bedside counter. She plopped onto her bed, and close her eyes, feeling a tear stream down her face. She was so...hurt. When she passed by him, he didn't even look up at her when she said 'good night'. He doesn't reply or even nod his head. That and she felt so miserable, what was she going to do? While he's up in space battling Arctica's army, she's stuck on Earth, unable to do anything to help. She gripped onto the sheets, frustrated. Sooner or later, she fell asleep.

 Juno walked into Alita's room to see if she was asleep, she was, but her light was on, dimmed. He walked up beside her and sat down beside her. She was so beautiful!
